Warm Week Ahead

Warm Week Ahead, After a cloudy day today with some lingering showers at times, we will see skies clear and another warm week ahead. Temperatures should be back near or just above 80 by Wednesday and this should last through Friday.

The pattern will change by this weekend with ridging showing up in the western US and a trough across the Lakes and Eastern US. This will lead to a strong cold front moving through Friday night into Saturday with more below normal temperatures to follow it for this weekend and into next week. Average highs this time of year in the Raleigh area are in the mid 70s, and it looks like an air mass that will support highs in the 60s to low 70s will move in this weekend and likely stick around for much of next week.

Extended Range Discussion

It looks like the ensembles want to keep the generally cool pattern around through the end of April with the CFS weeklies taking it into the first week of May. With the MJO favored to move back into phase 1 in 2-3 weeks we could see a cooler bent to the forecast even as we head into early May.
