The FBI and IRS raid the Pilot Flying J headquarters in Knoxville

The FBI and IRS raid the Pilot Flying J headquarters in Knoxville, The FBI has locked down the headquarters of Pilot Flying J travel centers in Knoxville, Tenn. According to an April 15 report on the Tennesseean.com, the IRS and FBI are present on the premises conducting an investigation tonight. It is unclear what the scope or purpose of the investigation is at this time.

The FBI and IRS conducted the raid Monday afternoon, and the headquarters are on lock-down. According to Commercial Appeal.com, the Knoxville Police Department would only say that they were contacted to provide assistance in a raid. They did not know the location until they were actually summoned to arrive.

The Pilot Flying J has over 650 travel centers and truck stops across the nation, and it is owned by Tennessee Governor Haslam’s family. Founded by his father, the family company is run by his brother, Jimmy Haslam, who also recently acquired the Cleveland Browns.

Pilot Flying J has released a statement that they don’t know what the situation is, but they are cooperating fully.

According to NFL.com, Pilot CEO Jimmy Haslam stated: “I believe and trust there has been no wrongdoing. The integrity of our company always has been job No. 1."
