Musharraf arrested: Ex Pakistani President Pervez Musharraf under house arrest

Musharraf arrested: Ex Pakistani President Pervez Musharraf under house arrest, Former Pakistani President Pervez Musharraf is under house arrest according to an April 19 CNN report. The former Pakistani army chief’s political aspirations to run in the upcoming elections hit a bump in the road, thanks to multiple legal issues. An Islamabad court recently revoked Musharraf’s bail and after appearing in court on Friday, he was placed under house arrest. Musharraf is reportedly the first nation’s first former army chief to be arrested and detained.

Yahoo News reports that following his arrest in a case involving his decision to fire senior judges while in power, the former military ruler lashed out against his detractors and criticized allegations against him as “politically motivated.

Musharraf took to social media to declare his position, writing on his Facebook page, “These allegations are politically motivated, and I will fight them in the trial court, where the truth will eventually prevail.”

The arrest follows the former leader’s dramatic escape from an Islamabad court in a speeding vehicle on Thursday to avoid detention by authorities.
