Suspect throat injury: Dzhokar Tsarnaev sedated, throat injury serious

Suspect throat injury: Dzhokar Tsarnaev sedated, throat injury serious, Dzhokar Tsarnaev is still alive and currently sedated in the hospital, but the Boston Marathon bombing suspect has a severe throat injury that may affect his ability to speak. A report from CNN on Saturday, April 20, 2013, states that this injury could hinder the attempts of law enforcement to question him about motives and other information from the bombing.

His brother is already dead after being killed in a shootout with police, and Dzhokar Tsarnaev is the only way that police may get answers after his capture on Friday evening. He was found in the boat of a Watertown resident, and he had suffered injuries to his throat and leg.

An official, speaking on the condition of anonymity, discussed the condition of Dzhokar Tsarnaev, but Massachusetts Gov. Deval Patrick did say that Tsarnaev was in "serious but stable condition.

"I, and I think all of the law enforcement professionals, are hoping for a host of reasons that the suspect survives, because we have a million questions, and those questions need to be answered. There are parts of the investigation, in terms of information and evidence, that still needs to be run to ground," Patrick said.

The governor went on to say that has has "not yet been able to communicate yet" with authorities. The police have not publicly discussed his injuries, but one official said that the suspect does indeed have a neck injury and is "intubated and sedated."

Tsarnaev's condition has never been at the "critical" stage, but he still is not in a condition that allows authorities to speak with him.

Authorities have not said anything about questioning Tsarnaev yet, but word has gotten out that he will be represented by public defenders.
