Mom kids fire BB gun: NY mom encourages kids to shoot cars

Mom kids fire BB gun: NY mom encourages kids to shoot cars, Update on "Mom kids fire BB gun" vandalism story: Susan Becker, the New York mom who allegedly encouraged a group of teens to shoot out car windows, was arrested and charged Friday. Suffolk County police say the woman bought a pellet gun used in the drive-by shootings of parked cars.

On April 20, Newsday wrote that Becker, 43, of East Northport, drove her 15-year-old daughter, 13-year-old son and another teenager around Commack, Islandia and Hauppauge the past two weeks. There, the mom persuaded the kids to shoot the BB gun at vehicles parked along streets.

Obviously, the news that a mother would encourage teenagers to shoot at cars with a pellet gun shook up a number of residents.

One person spoke candidly about Becker's allegations:

"The likelihood that somebody's going to get hurt with that kind of behavior is just insane. I don't know why anyone would want to do that," said John McGuigan, a father of three.

Another neighbor who knows the woman, clearly shocked over the BB gun arrest, painted another picture of Becker.

"Susan is a great mom, she's a great neighbor, she's always there to help everybody…She just wouldn't do something like that," said Susan Morelli, discounting the charges.

Undoubtedly, police are in search of a motive as to why a mom encouraged kids to fire a BB gun at cars.

The damage done in the shooting spree reportedly left 60 cars damaged. Becker faces 11 counts of endangering the welfare of a child and 10 counts for criminal mischief.

Bail was set at $30,000.
