Saudi Women driving ban: Prince backs women drivers for the good of economy

Saudi Women driving ban: Prince backs women drivers for the good of economy, The Saudi women driving ban may end if Saudi Prince Alwaleed bin Talal has anything to say about it. He is supporting allowing women behind the wheel, according to The Seattle Times on Sunday, April 14, 2013.

Living in the U.S. and hearing that women are banned from driving may sound a bit ludicrous to many, but that's the case in Saudi Arabia where women don't have the privileges that the men do.

The prince believes that women driving would save the country's estimated 500,000 jobs that could be left vacant with the thousands of foreigners being fired from their jobs because they illegally reside and work in Saudi Arabia. This is part of the government's campaign to rid the country of people who are in the country illegally and who fall under the equivalent to the U.S's illegal alien status.

King Abdullah gave workers three months to legalize their presence in the country. The prince thinks that this would be the time to let women drive. First they would have to get rid of the ultra conservative law banning women from getting behind the wheel.
