Puppy tied to tracks: 10-month-old puppy avoided by train

Puppy tied to tracks: 10-month-old puppy avoided by train, A puppy tied to tracks in Calif. by his owner was saved when an engineer noticed him and stopped the train before it ran him over. The 10-month-old poodle terrier mix was left to die by a 78-year-old man who explained that his family simply "didn't want him any more" and that he had "no other choice." The story was reported by The Hollywood Gossip on April 10.

The puppy, named Banjo, was rescued and his owner was detained by police. It sounds as though the elderly man stood by to watch the whole thing unfold which is perhaps even more disturbing.

The puppy tied to the tracks is presumably doing okay now. It is unknown if he was taken to a shelter or if he was given back to the family. Police questioned the man responsible for this almost-tragedy and could not press charges of any kind.

"After an extensive interview, Agent Pina said that he could not pursue an animal-cruelty case because the man appeared to be confused, or senile and didn't fully understand what he had done," said John Welsh of the Riverside County Department of Animal Services (via The Hollywood Gossip).

Hopefully the puppy who was tied to the tracks will find a loving home.
