Providence weather forecast for Apr. 16, 2013

Providence weather forecast for Apr. 16, 2013, Forecast discussion: A high pressure center off the Gulf of Maine gave Providence sunny skies and slightly below temperatures. We reached a high temperature of 53 degrees this afternoon, and our temperatures will be increasing as we continue into the middle of the week. A warm front over eastern Canada will move eastward as we move through Tuesday. This will allow warmer air to reach Southern New England, and our temperatures will reach the lower 60’s. But, the winds will be increasing, as the front begins to create a tighter pressure gradient with the high pressure center. The high will begin to move further east Tuesday evening and winds will begin to diminish. A weak cold front now in the western Great Lakes will bring some scattered showers by the end of the evening commute tomorrow night. The cold front will weaken and pass through Southern New England by Wednesday morning. However, the warmer air will remain, as highs reach the upper 60’s in partly sunny skies. View slideshow: Tuesday's weather As we go into the end of the week, a much stronger cold front in the central U.S. will remain stationary into early Thursday, before beginning to move towards the east coast. We will see heavier precipitation as the cold front passes through the state of Rhode Island. Temperatures will cool into the middle to upper 50’s by early next week. However, high pressure will be influencing our weather, so we will see partly to mostly sunny skies for Sunday and next Monday. 72 hour forecast: Tonight: Partly to mostly cloudy with a low of 42.
