New app prevents Icelanders from accidentally sleeping with their relatives

New app prevents Icelanders from accidentally sleeping with their relatives, Living on an island with a population of just 300,000 drastically increases the chances of running into the occasional distant relative.

Which is nice if you want to catch up over a cup of tea, but problematic if you're hoping to meet the partner of your dreams.

Now, there's an app for that.

According to the News of Iceland, a team of three software engineers has created an Andoid app using a genealogy website called Íslendingabók (roughly translated as 'the Book of Icelanders').

Among more conventional search features, ÍslendigaApp features a “bump” function that lets two users tap phones to see how closely they are related.

Too close a match, and an “incest alarm” will sound.

The engineers have also come up with the perfect slogan for their innovative new product - “Bump the app before you bump in bed.”

So far, Icelanders have been very receptive to ÍslendigaApp, giving it 4.6/5 stars on the Google play app store.

However, the app may have come too late for some.

One user commented, "If I would have had this app last year I probably wouldn't have gone home with my cousin." Probably.
