Minister gets 56 years in prison for killing fiancee's daughter

Minister gets 56 years in prison for killing fiancee's daughter, A former minister gets 56 years in prison after his conviction for the murder of Rebekah Gay, his fiancee Sally Gay's daughter. John White killed 24-year-old Rebekah allegedly because he had a fantasy of having sex with a dead body. CBS News shared the details on April 19.

The murder happened last Halloween in Broomfield Township, Mich., and White pleaded guilty to second-degree murder in March. John White was engaged to Rebekah's mother at the time of the murder, and he sometimes cared for Rebekah's young son. The minister gets 56 years, and it could be as many as 85 years, in jail for the brutal crime.

White is said to have drank a few beers, then went to Gay's mobile home. He hit her on the head several times with a mallet, then used a zip tie to strange her. White dumped her body in the woods, then dressed her 3-year-old son up for Halloween and took the boy to his father's home.

The former minister has serious prior crimes on his record, and church members have indicated they were aware of his past. He served 12 years for manslaughter related to the death of a woman in Kalamazoo County, and in 1981 he got probation for stabbing and choking a 17-year-old girl.

The Gay family is, of course, relieved to know the minister gets 56 years for the horrible murder of Rebekah Gay, and the judge indicated that John White should remain behind bars for the rest of his life.
