Man attempts to saw off his arms at Home Depot

Man attempts to saw off his arms at Home Depot, A man attempted to saw off both his arms at a Home Depot store in California. Police say he grabbed several saws and tried to amputate his own arms. According to an April 11 report by USA Today, the man, whose name is being withheld, is in critical condition in a local hospital.

It is unknown what caused the man to attempt to saw off his arms. Very little is known about the man, his motives or his history. The man is not speaking to anyone about the incident.

If not for the quick-thinking off-duty paramedic at Home Depot, the man could have bled to death. The paramedic jumped into action, asking others to bring him rope to make a tourniquet. He also used cloth from the Home Depot store to try to stop the bleeding. Despite not having the equipment he is accustomed to, Captain Art Hurtado was able to help save the man.

“I kind of MacGyver-ed it,” Art Hurtado explained. “MacGyver was a popular television show in the 1980s about a man who used whatever was available to him to get out trouble.

Art Hurtado also said he saw blood spatter everywhere. He then saw 50 to 75 feet of blood. Shortly after that, he found the man who had tried to saw off his arms.

At the time of publication, it was unknown what caused the man to want to cut off his arms at the Home Depot store. There was also no additional information about his current condition.
