Long Beach salon closes shop to sponsor haircuts for Autistic families, April 17 premiered 'Sensitive Salon Thursdays' for families with children and siblings of Autism in the Atlantic/Bixby Knolls area in Long Beach.

Goldhill Salon in partnership with Autism of Long Beach sponsored the event, closing down the salon from 12 noon to 5 p.m. just to families with special needs children -- providing a sensory sensitive and safe environment for haircuts.

Jill Hill owner of Goldhill Salon with daughter/manager Danita Gould will close down their salon the third Thursday of every month just to Autistic families by appointment.

CEO and Founder of Autism in Long Beach, Jane Tipton was present for the opening event along with her assistant Janet Sainz and her son Dominic Zapata who was the first to receive his special haircut by hairstylist Sofia Valles.

The colorful decor of the salon and its 1940s time period design added a bit of romance to the atmosphere while the salon mascot Sadie, a Dachshund Chihuahua mix delighted guests with her relaxed and playful character.

Goldhill Salon offers haircuts for men, women and children, permanents, coloring and smoothing treatments, hairstyling, manicures, pedicures and more.
