Cops: Drunk driver crashes into club, pinning one man and injuring two others

Cops: Drunk driver crashes into club, pinning one man and injuring two others, Three men were struck, one of them pinned against the side of a nightclub, by a car that slammed into the building in southeast Atlanta early Friday morning.

The alleged drunk driver, who police said was showing off when he lost control, ran from the wreckage but was caught a short time later.

The incident happened shortly after 2 a.m. when police said Mr. Robby Manley was driving a red 1967 Chevrolet Camaro southbound on Flat Shoals Road.

“As he was laying drags he lost control of the vehicle and drove onto the sidewalk in front of the bar called The Asylum,” police spokeswoman Officer Kim Jones said. “The vehicle struck three males on the sidewalk and pinned one of them for an instant, against the building.”

The incident caused significant damage to the building as well as to the vehicle, she said.

“Once the vehicle came to a stop, Mr. Manley ran around the corner and threw his keys,” Officer Jones said. He was located and arrested a short time later and his keys were found, she said.

Two of the victims, who are reportedly bouncers for the club, were transported to Grady Memorial Hospital with leg injuries, police said.

Another employee was treated on the scene and released.

Mr. Manley was charged with DUI, failure to render aid, failure to maintain lane, hit and run, as well as several other charges.

He complained of leg pain and was transported to Grady Detention.
