California manhunt on after stabbing death of girl in her home, Law enforcement agencies are on the hunt for a man who stabbed to death a 9-year-old girl in her home in California, the Modesto Bee reported April 27.

Residents in the area of Valley Springs, Calif., were advised by reverse 911 calls and other mass notification systems to lock their doors and stay inside after the stabbing death of the 9-year-old girl.

The man who is thought to have killed the girl is considered armed and dangerous, police said.

The man is described as being white or Latino, with long gray hair, about 6 feet tall and with a muscular build. He was reported to have been wearing a black long-sleeved shirt and blue pants at the time of the fatal attack on the girl.

The boy checked on his sister and found her with multiple stab wounds. The girl died at a local hospital. Her identity has not been released.
