Brush fire in Volusia could make I-4 smoky Saturday near Daytona, The Mile Marker 128 Fire north of I-4 west of Daytona Beach remained at 75 percent contained Friday. Volusia County spokesperson Pat Kuehn says firefighters also widened lines around the fire and continued mop-up operations between I-4 and U.S. 92 (International Speedway Boulevard) west of Daytona Beach during the day.
Even though there were high winds, officials report no active flames or breakouts Friday. The Florida Forest Service also conducted a GPS survey of the fire and reported that it covers 181 acres.
Officials say drivers and residents in the area can expect smoky conditions over the weekend.
Southwest winds pushed smoke into the Tiger Bay Estates and Highridge Estates subdivisions Friday.
This Examiner observed light smoke during a drive along International Speedway Boulevard Friday afternoon in the Roosevelt Boulevard area.
There was a smoky smell as well in the Bayberry Lakes subdivision north-northeast of the fire Friday morning around 10.

Winds are expected out of the north Saturday morning, which officials warn could push the smoke towards I-4 west of Daytona Beach.
Drivers are urged to use caution if they run into smoky areas on the interstate or other roads in the area of the fire.
Fog and smoke warning signs were up along International Speedway Boulevard in the Indian Lakes Road area early Friday evening as Volusia County and Florida Forest Services fire crews continued to monitor the area.
