Boston weather, metro north and west: Early showers depart, then sunny and cool

Boston weather, metro north and west: Early showers depart, then sunny and cool, A cold front is positioned just off the coast of northeast Massachusetts early this morning with a band of rain along the front. Both the front and rain will move offshore during the morning and we should begin to dry out as skies become partly sunny for the afternoon. Don’t expect the mild air to return as a cooler air mass follows in the wake of the front. However, the good news for the weekend is that once the rain moves out this morning we stay dry through the remainder of the weekend and into early next week. It will be quite chilly at night with some interior communities falling into the upper 20s.

High pressure will be the dominant weather feature for Sunday and Monday. A sea breeze along the coast will bring chilly afternoon temperatures with everyone experiencing below seasonal averages both days, despite a good amount of sunshine.

By Tuesday a coastal low to our south will begin to impact the area. The initial sign of the approaching system will be an increase in clouds Monday night followed by a chance of rain on Tuesday and Tuesday night. Once the low pulls away we should see improving weather Wednesday. It will be very chilly for this time of year on Tuesday with the mercury recovering back to near normal readings Wednesday.
