Boston weather, metro north and west: Sunny and mild today, much cooler tonight

Boston weather, metro north and west: Sunny and mild today, much cooler tonight, The cold front that moved through here last evening, sparking a few light showers, has moved well offshore early today. High pressure centered in southeast Quebec will influence our weather today into Thursday. Even though a cold front passed across the area last evening it will remain mild today. With the early clouds departing, morning temperatures starting out in the low 50s and developing sunshine we should have no problem with afternoon highs reaching far into the 60s this afternoon. There is a chance for a sea breeze to kick in along the coast and we all know what that means. If it happens, expect the mercury to fall back into the low 50s during the afternoon along the coast. For tonight, mainly clear skies and much cooler. Lows down in the mid 30s inland to near 40 on the shore.

A warm front will approach from the Ohio Valley during Thursday. A sunny beginning to the day but expect clouds on the increase during the afternoon hours. With high pressure moving east of the Canadian Maritimes that will set up an easterly flow and that means cooler temperatures Thursday, despite the sunshine. Highs in the low 60s inland but only in the low to perhaps mid 50s on the coast. For the overnight it will be mostly cloudy and a shower or two may pass through the area. Nothing of any significance however. The temperatures will not be as cool with the lows in the upper 40s to low 50s.

The warm front charges through here early on Friday and this will set up a strong south to southwest air flow. Although skies will be mostly cloudy temperatures will spike into the upper 60s to low 70s across the area. A few showers early in the day with the possibility of several hours of dry weather during midday. However, with a strong cold front coming from the west things will change up dramatically later Friday, Friday night and into Saturday.

With the front fast approaching Friday night and forecast to move through early Saturday we can expect a period of showers and perhaps steadier and at times heavy rain at night and Saturday morning. Even a rumble of thunder is possible. The front should be east of us by midday and by late Saturday skies should become partly cloudy. Lows Friday night around 50 degrees and near 60 for Saturday.

Partly cloudy skies and quite cool Saturday night. Lows in the low to mid 30s.

High pressure brings a mostly sunny but cooler day for Sunday. Highs generally in the mid 50s.
