Boston weather forecast for Apr. 12, 2013

Boston weather forecast for Apr. 12, 2013, Forecast discussion: After some morning showers, a low pressure system moved offshore, leaving us with some drizzle and gray skies for Boston on Thursday.

As we move into Friday, a cold front that is bringing heavy rain to the Ohio River Valley this evening will move into Southern New England.

I am expecting the heaviest precipitation starting around the late morning, and continuing into the afternoon. Also, winds will be increasing, so some of that rain may be wind driven at times.

I am not expecting any rivers to flood, despite predicting around an inch of rain. However, some street flooding is possible, especially by the evening commute.

As we move into Friday night, the front will move offshore, and our precipitation will taper off to some showers. The precipitation should end by dawn Saturday morning.

As we move through the weekend, a weak cold front will pass through the area, but it will not create any precipitation.

Our temperatures should also climb back to seasonable conditions, with highs in the middle to upper 50’s for the weekend.

We should see more sunshine on Saturday, as that weak front develops more clouds than sunshine for Sunday.

The high will continue to influence our weather to start the workweek, before a new low pressure system brings the chance for some showers Tuesday morning.

Based on the computer models, I see more widespread showers by Tuesday evening, lasting into the early morning hours on Wednesday.

By the middle of the week, a frontal boundary will move over Southern New England, and bring more precipitation on Thursday.

Temperatures will remain in the upper 50’s, and we could see some locales reach the lower 60’s.
