According to a tweet sent by Margie J. Phelps on April 15, the spokesperson for the Westboro Baptist Church and daughter of its founder, Fred Phelps, God sent the bombs because of gay marriage.
“BREAKING: Westboro Baptist Church to picket funerals of those dead by Boston Bombs [sic],” Margie J. Phelps tweeted. “GOD SENT THE BOMBS IN FURY OVER FAG MARRIAGE! #PraiseGod [sic].”
Anytime there is a death of almost any kind – natural disaster, car accident, plane crash, the Westboro Baptist Church blames same-sex marriage. As of April 15, they are now blaming acts of terrorism on gay marriage.
The Westboro Baptist Church may or may not make good on their threat to protest the funerals of those killed during the Boston Marathon bombing. Although they make a lot of threats, the Westboro Baptist Church do not often actually show up to picket.
