Boston Marathon bombing suspect officially charged

Boston Marathon bombing suspect officially charged, Everyone has been waiting to learn what (if any) charges 19-year-old Dzhokhar Tsarnaev would face for his role in the Boston Marathon bombings. Well, the wait is over according to an article published on April 22 by the Chicago Tribune. The report says that Tsarnaev was officially charged with using a weapon of mass destruction, and with malicious destruction of property resulting in death on week after he and his brother allegedly carried out the terror attacks in Boston.

Dzhokhar Tsarnaev is said to be cooperating with the ongoing investigations even though he is unable to speak because of the injuries he suffered in two separate shootouts with law enforcement officers on April 18 and 19.

Dzhokhar's older brother 26-year-old Tamerlan Tsarnaev died from injuries he received during the April 18 confrontation with police.

The pair are accused of using explosives to kill three people and injuring more than 170 others during the 117th running of the Boston Marathon on April 15. Police have learned from the surviving brother that the attacks were motivated by religion, but weren't sponsored by any known terrorist groups.
