Dolphins cancel stadium renovations: Say all Plans are put on hold

Dolphins cancel stadium renovations: Say all Plans are put on hold, plans for renovations to Sun Life Stadium following news that public funding would not be available to support the efforts, reported NFL.com on May 5. They are unwilling to pursue the planned work without any public support, saying that such a partnership is necessary for the endeavor to be successful.

Funding for the stadium renovations was part of a bill in front of the Florida Legislature. Last Friday was the remaining chance to introduce and pass that bill before the legislature closed its session. That died not happen, effectively killing the bill and along with it, the Dolphins' hopes for a private-public partnership. Examiner reports

The Dolphins' organization is dismayed by the news as it was hopeful that a mutually beneficial arrangement could have been reached. Mike Dee, CEO for the Miami Dolphins, made the announcement that the organization would not be the sole funding body for stadium improvements and at the same time suggested that the decision could ultimately lead to the team leaving the state.
