Windy today with near record high temperatures

Windy today with near record high temperatures, A warm front has now pushed well north of the area. A strong southwesterly flow of warm, humid air will overspread the region today. This will boost our temperatures to near record levels with afternoon highs in the low 80s. Below are the record highs for today for a few select cities:

Cleveland: 85 set in 1896

Akron: 86 set in 1896

Skies will be partly sunny today and there will be a chance of a thunderstorm this afternoon. A few of the storms could be severe with damaging winds and hail, especially across the west. It will also be quite windy today with gusts in excess of 40 mph possible.

Tonight, deep low pressure will move into the Great Lakes, dragging a strong cold front eastward into western Ohio well after midnight. It will be breezy with partly cloudy skies and there will be a chance of showers and thunderstorms overnight. A few of the storms tonight could produce gusty winds and hail. It will be warm and rather humid overnight. Lows will be in the low to mid 60s.

The cold front will make its way eastward across northeastern Ohio Friday morning. A band of showers and thunderstorms will accompany the front as it crosses the area. Some of the storms on Friday could produce strong winds and hail, along with very heavy rainfall.

Temperatures during the morning will be in the mid to upper 60s, then fall to around 50 degrees by late in the day.

Friday night and Saturday will be partly to mostly cloudy, breezy and much colder with a chance of rain showers and even some wet snow showers. Lows Friday night will dip into the low to mid 30s with highs on Saturday in the mid to upper 40s.
