Space Mountain, along with two other rides, closed over the weekend

Space Mountain, along with two other rides, closed over the weekend, The popular Space Mountain roller coaster ride, along with two other rides at Disneyland, were closed down temporarily over the weekend according to ABC News through the Associated Press on April 14. The closings come after Disneyland Resorts reviewed its safety procedures after they were cited by state regulators.

According to Suzi Brown, Disneyland Resorts spokeswoman, the citations were received on Friday from the California Division of Occupational Safety and Health. On Saturday, Space Mountain, Soarin' Over California and the Matterhorn Bobsleds were all closed voluntarily and were done out of extreme caution according to Brown on Sunday.

"We constantly strive to maintain a safe work environment for our cast members and contractors — and we are reviewing certain protocols," she said.

In November, an incident occurred where a contracted worker was injured while performing maintenance on the Space Mountain ride exterior. The citations were issued because Disneyland failed to effectively correct the "known fall hazards" that were on the Space Mountain ride exterior according to the citation description on the Cal/OSHA website.

"Furthermore, Disneyland Resort failed to have approved anchorages or approved tie-backs for contract employees to attach to when performing scheduled exterior building maintenance," the description states.

On Sunday, the Matterhorn Bobsleds reopened, and Brown stated on Sunday that she was not sure how long it would be before the other two rides reopened.

The Matterhorn Bobsleds and Space Mountain attractions are located at Disneyland. Soarin' Over California is at Disney California Adventure and is a simulated hang-glider flight ride.

There was no answer to ABC News' request for comment on Sunday by officials with Cal/OSHA.
