Showers a lingering threat through the week

Showers a lingering threat through the week, A cold front will stall over the Philadelphia and New York City metropolitan areas through Friday afternoon with the threat for widely scattered showers and isolated thunderstorms. A wide variety of temperatures can be expected through the forecast period as winds veer to the south by tomorrow afternoon.

Variable clouds with scattered showers can be expected this morning followed by scattered clouds and isolated showers this afternoon. Winds will be from the north at 5 to 10 mph. Temperatures will rise into the upper 50's to lower 60's over Long Island, lower to mid 60's over the New York City metropolitan areas, and mid to upper 60's over the Philadelphia metropolitan areas.

Scattered clouds with the threat of isolated showers will linger on through tonight and into tomorrow. Winds will veer from the northeast to southeast through the forecast period at 5 to 10 mph. Temperatures will range from the mid to upper 40's for lows and upper 50's to lower 60's along the immediate coast and mid to upper 60's elsewhere.

Variable clouds with scattered showers will remain a threat tomorrow night through Friday afternoon. Winds will be from the south at 5 to 15 mph, increasing to 10 to 20 mph. Low temperatures will range from the lower to mid 50's. High temperatures will range from the mid to upper 60's along the coast and upper 60's to lower 70's elsewhere.

A strong cold front currently over the eastern Rockies will move through the Philadelphia and New York City metropolitan areas with heavy rain and embedded thunderstorms on Friday night into early Saturday morning. The thunderstorms will be capable of wind gusts over 40 mph, frequent lightning, and heavy downpours. Temperatures will fall into the upper 40's to lower 50's.

High pressure will take hold by late Saturday morning through Monday with scattered clouds. Tranquil conditions will take hold with temperatures near normal. The next threat for rain will return on Tuesday. Temperatures will range from the upper 30's to mid 40's for lows and lower to mid 60's for highs.
