Puppy tied to tracks narrowly avoids death: Suspect escapes charges

Puppy tied to tracks narrowly avoids death: Suspect escapes charges, Puppy tied to tracks narrowly avoids death: An adorable pooch was tied to train tracks and left to die in California. Fortunately, the 10-month-old poodle-terrier mix escaped almost certain disaster when the quick-thinking train engineer engaged the brakes quickly enough to avoid striking the dog, according to an April 10, 2013 report by Yahoo! News.

The engineer spotted the 78-year-old man leaving the scene of the incident and alerted local authorities. The elderly man reportedly told Union Pacific special agent Sal Pina that his family no longer wanted the poodle-terrier mix and "didn't know what to do." It is unclear why the man thought leaving the puppy tied to tracks was a suitable solution to the problem.

No charges were filed against the man who left the puppy tied to tracks. Officials observed that the man was confused and may have been suffering from senility. He was released into the custody of family members.

The lovable pooch has been dubbed Banjo. He was transported to the Coachella Valley Animal Campus in Thousand Palms, Calif. where he received an examination, treatment and a much needed bath. He is currently awaiting a forever home that will appreciate and love him for the rest of his life.
