MTV cancels 'Buckwild' after death of star Shain Gandee

MTV cancels 'Buckwild' after death of star Shain Gandee, Shain Gandee, 21-year-old celebrity sensation and star of the MTV reality series "Buckwild," was found dead on Apr. 1 in West Virginia. The show is cancelled, but the tributes are still being made around the web.

It was reported Wednesday that the hit MTV show “Buckwild” would be cancelled due to the passing of Gandee. Sources told TMZ that the network stopped production in the middle of the second season. Cast and crew members were not given the specifics as to why the show was axed.

Gandee, a friend and his uncle were found dead inside a vehicle in a wooded area about 15 miles from Charleston. Coroners confirmed the cause of death was accidental carbon monoxide poisoning.

Since the show made its debut, the cast has suffered from a number of setbacks. Salwa Amin was arrested for drug possession, while Michael Burfor was detained for a DUI, according to Hollywood Life.

“Given Shain's tragic passing and essential presence on the show, we felt it was not appropriate to continue without him,” MTV representatives told the entertainment news outlet. “Instead, we are working on a meaningful way to pay tribute to his memory on our air and privately.”

This weekend, MTV will air the entire first season of “Buckwild” and dedicate programming to Gandee. However, the Washington Post reported that J.P. Williams, the show’s producer, suspected something else regarding MTV’s decision, especially since their rather questionable programming.

Nonetheless, MTV isn’t the only entity commemorating the life of the reality TV star. Blogs all around the Internet, such as Ask Karine, have been posting pictures, condolences, tweets, kind messages and news updates regarding Gandee’s death and the television show.

The blog’s large audience has been commenting on the news since it was reported on. Most of the remarks have been related to how much people enjoyed watching Gandee and the show, while others remember their favorite moments on the show.

On the Ask Karine blog post, there are more than a dozen pictures of Gandee by himself or posing with fans and colleagues. There is even a heart wrenching video of the “chilling” Gandee 911 call. In the post, images can be seen of the scene of the incident, Gandee’s funeral and the first annual Shain Gandee Memorial Mud Run, which had more than 100 people attend.
