Man in luxury car killed in exchange of gunfire on I-20 in DeKalb County

Man in luxury car killed in exchange of gunfire on I-20 in DeKalb County, A man was killed Thursday after an exchange of gunfire between the occupants of two vehicles on I-20 in DeKalb County.

And police on Friday continued their search for the other car and the shooter who fired multiple shots into a Maybach, killing the man inside the luxury car.

The DeKalb County Medical Examiner’s Office said they have not yet been able to release the name of the victim.

The shooting happened in the area of I-20 westbound at Glenwood Avenue around 5:15 p.m., DeKalb County police Capt. Timothy Hunt said.

Witnesses told police that shots were exchanged between the occupants of a white SUV and the victim’s black car, Capt. Hunt said.
By the time police arrived the white car had already fled the scene, police said.

Officers found the gunshot-damaged vehicle that was partially in the right lane and on the shoulder of the interstate.

All the doors to the vehicle were locked, so the first officer on the scene broke a rear window in an attempt to help the victim, according to media report.

The man was transported to a hospital in critical condition with multiple gunshot wounds, police said. He later died.

The Maybach is an exclusive luxury car that cost more than $400,000 — and up, police said.

The car, which has a Florida license plate, was damaged from multiple gunshots, and police recovered shell casings along the interstate, The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reported.
