Gunshots in Watertown: Possible 2 dozen gunshots, Fox News says 'suspect down', The Boston Marathon manhunt for 19-year-old Dzohkar Tsarnaev continues on Friday, April 19, 2013, and it appeared as if things may have been turning grim as night was about to fall. CNN and the Associated Press both sent out mobile alerts stating that gunshots had been heard in a Watertown neighborhood, near Boston.

Fox News is reporting that the suspect is down. This has not been confirmed by any other media outlets. Some reports are coming in that the suspect was originally found underneath a boat tarp.

UPDATE #1: David Fitzpatrick, CNN producer, says that 10-12 people are being evacuated by police and FBI. One young girl is being quickly carried in the arms of a police officer to an ambulance.

The Boston police department has said via their Twitter that residents in the Watertown neighborhood need to be on the alert. CNN reports that police have engaged the suspect on the scene and first responders need to be careful of possible explosives.

Reports are that the gunshots were heard mere minutes after the "lockdown" in the Watertown neighborhood was lifted. Immediately on CNN and other news networks, SWAT and other police vehicles were making their way quickly into the neighborhood.

"Four or five people firing...and then silence. Fully automatic weapon fire," per CNN reporter on scene.

At the press conference in the early evening, Watertown Police Chief Edward Deveau told people to "please go about your business. The lockdown was lifted at that point, and within the hour, everyone was back on the scene after the gunshots were heard in Watertown.
