David Ortiz pre-game statement: 'This is our f*cking city!'

David Ortiz pre-game statement: 'This is our f*cking city!', David Ortiz made a pre-game statement that got plenty of attention at today's game. On April 20, NBC News reported that Ortiz was feeling really proud of his city -- as he should -- and he let everyone know it.

"This is our f-cking city," Ortiz said to the thousands of spectators both at Fenway Park and at home. His statement was made in regard to the huge sigh of relief Massachusetts let out after the second Boston bombing suspect was found and arrested by authorities on Friday night. Ortiz's statement was met with loud cheers, whistles, hoots, and applause -- it really was quite a moment.

David Ortiz's pre-game statement was approved by FCC chairman Julius Genachowski also. "David Ortiz spoke from the heart at today's Red Sox game. I stand with Big Papi and the people of Boston - Julius (sic)," the FCC tweeted just after the "live" cursing. Many people -- Red Sox fans and others -- loved Ortiz's statement and didn't even care about the curse.

Others were a little surprised that the ballplayer would use such a vulgar word with so many young children at the ballpark -- but it is what it is. The people of Boston (and most of the state) are just so happy that yesterday's terror is over.

Did the David Ortiz pre-game statement surprise you? Did you like it?

By the way, the Red Sox beat Kansas City 4-3.
