Atlanta man, wife shot twice while attempting to stop thieves from stealing SUV, A man was shot while attempting to stop some thieves and his wife was also injured when she attempted to come to his rescue early Wednesday morning in southwest Atlanta.

So far, police have not been able to find the three suspects who attempted to steal the couple’s sport utility vehicle.

The incident happened shortly after 1 a.m. at 3082 Dawson Lane, according to Atlanta police.

Investigators said the husband came outside to confront the suspects who were in the process of stealing his truck.

He approached the suspects while they were inside his SUV, police spokeswoman Officer Kim Jones said.

“The suspects exchanged gunfire with the victim,” Officer Jones said. “During this altercation, the victim’s wife came out threw a baseball bat at the suspects.”

As a result of the gunfire, the victim suffered two gunshot wounds to the upper back, she said. And the wife suffered two gunshot wounds to the legs.

The victims, whose names have not been released, were taken to Grady Memorial Hospital in stable condition, police said.

They were able to keep the suspects from stealing their Chevrolet Tahoe, according to a media report.
