9-year-old glacier crevasse: Young boy feared dead after fall into deep crevasse

9-year-old glacier crevasse: Young boy feared dead after fall into deep crevasse, A nine-year-old boy in Alaska is feared dead after falling into a deep glacier crevasse as reported by the Associated Press on Sunday, April 14, 2013. State troopers say that they fear he likely did not survive, and that is when the phrase "9-year-old glacier crevasse" began trending all over the place.

Reports state that Sjohn Brown of Fairbanks fell into a roughly 200-foot glacier crevasse while riding a snowmobile on Saturday at the Arctic Man Classic. The Classic is a race involving snowmobiles and skiers and snowboarders in the Hoodoo Mountains off the Richardson Highway.

Alaska State Troopers say that the boy rode around a small mound and then just disappeared from sight.

Troopers went onto say that he apparently fell into a "mulan," something that forms when water flowing on glaciers erodes the ice.

An ice climber went down into the hole and spotted the boy's helmet and goggles and a part of the snowmobile. Authorities continued on saying that they believe the boy may be buried in deep snow.
