9-year-old girl killed by intruder: Manhunt underway in California, Calaveras County Sheriff's office has residents on alert and advised them to secure their homes after an intruder broke into a home and brutally stabbed a 9-year-old girl. KSEE 24 reported on Sunday, April 28, 2013 that the search continues in full force in the remote town of Valley Springs.
The unidentified girl was at home with her 12-year-old brother who spotted the intruder on Saturday afternoon. He called their parents, and police were then alerted by a call made to 911.
The boy discovered his sister had been stabbed several times after the man ran from the home. She was taken to a hospital where she later died.
A neighbor saw the intruder fleeing the home. The suspect has been described as a white or Hispanic male, about six feet tall with a muscular build and longer gray hair. He was wearing blue pants and a black shirt with long sleeves.
