4 shot in basement: Victims identified in Ohio basement murders

4 shot in basement: Victims identified in Ohio basement murders, Authorities say four adults were shot in their heads in the basement of an Ohio townhome on Thursday, according to an April 18 Associated Press report. The housing complex is located in Northeast Akron, about 35 miles south of Cleveland.

Newsnet5.com reports that a friend found the bodies shortly before 3 p.m. in the basement of the house. Family members have identified all four victims as Ronald Roberts, 24; Maria Nash, 19 and Kem Delaney, 23. According to Robert’s family, the fourth victim is his girlfriend, Kiana "Kiki" Welch.

“My thoughts are that my son wouldn’t have hurt anyone. He would have given you the shirt off his back, and whoever did this needs to be found and held responsible,” Roberts’ mother said. “Now, I have a 24-year-old son to put away, for what? Can you please tell me why?”

Akron Metropolitan Housing Authority executive director Tony O’Leary stated that no weapons were found in the home, according to police reports. Authorities identified two men and two women, who appeared to be in their 20s. According to O’Leary, there is no history of crime in the normally quiet housing unit. “It's certainly not what some people see as a typical public housing unit,” he said.
